Frequently asked questions-Online TEFL Courses

1)How long do I have to complete the TEFL / TESOL courses?
40 hour: 2 months
60 hour: 3 months
120 hour and 150 hour: 6 months
240 hours: 8 months
2) Can non-native speakers of English take the courses?
Yes, you must have a B2 level (Common European Framework) in the English language.
3) What happens if I fail the course?
If you fail the course, you will have a discount of 75% from the fees on Global TEFL website.
4) What are the requirements to complete the courses?
150 hour course: you must complete a lesson plan assignment, self-study questions, grammar and final exam.
120 hour course: you must complete a lesson plan assignment, self-study questions, grammar and final exam.
60 hour course: you must complete self-study questions, grammar and final exam.
40 hour course: you must complete the grammar test and final exam.
Lesson plan and other assignments are Pass or Fail. You have three attempts.
Grammar exam: You must pass with at least 50 points. You have three attempts.
Final Exam: You must pass with at least 50 points. You have three attempts.
Your final grade will be based on an average of your grammar and final exam.
90% to 100% = A
80% to 89% = B
50 to 79% = Pass
5) Will I have to buy any additional textbooks?
It is not compulsory to purchase any additional textbooks. We recommend the following textbooks:
1. Grammar for the English Language Teachers Martin Parrot
2. The Practice of English Language Teaching by Jeremy Harmer latest edition.
Note: You can purchase both texts from Amazon.com
6) When will I receive my Global TEFL / TESOL certificate?
Please contact your trainer via email and inform him/her of your course completion. You will receive your digital certificate within 5 working days of completing the course by email and once your trainer has requested your certificate. Our trainers do not work on weekends so do not count those days.
Authenticity of your certificate will be done on Global TEFL website under the certificates tab for any employer to verify.
7) Can I get a hard copy of my certificate?
If you need a hard copy of your certificate sent via regular mail, there is a cost of £24 per certificate. If you want a faster mail service such as DHL or FedEx, there is an additional fee. Our team will be glad to assist you once we know the country where it needs to be sent.
8) Does the certificate expire?
No, your TEFL certificate does not expire. However, the longer you leave to teach the less attractive this will be for employers. Should this happen we recommend you take a refresher course which we will provide at 50% of the amount paid for the course.
9) What are the prerequisites for taking Global TEFL online courses?
There are no prerequisites to sign up for any of the courses. You must be at least 18 years old when you complete the course. There is no upper age limit. The course is very user friendly.
10) Are the courses written in British English or American English?
All the courses are written in British English. You may find words like centre (center for American English) or organised (organized for American English).
11) How often will I be able to contact my trainer/tutor?
You can contact your trainer at any time by email. For general questions your trainer will reply within 24 hours (Monday to Friday). For feedback on assignments your trainer will respond within 5 days.
